Volunteers are needed to help clear the Trail of fallen trees from the Nantahala Outdoor Center to Fontana Dam. Certified sawyers are needed as well as others who are willing to help remove the cut debris and repair any damage to the Trail's tread.
Join the Smoky Mountain Hiking Club on Saturday, March 7 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for this amazing opportunity to get outside and give back to the first National Scenic Trail. Work locations are unknown at the moment as there are hope of having multiple groups located throughout the 30 mile section.
Please be sure to wear long pants and sturdy boots. Bring lunch, plenty of snacks and water for the day, as well as sunscreen, bug spray, work gloves, and a rain jacket.
