Blacksburg, VA (February 22, 2011) – Blue Ridge Mountain Sports in Blacksburg, Virginia has chosen the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) as the beneficiary for the 2011 Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour. The event will be held at the historic Lyric Theatre, in downtown Blacksburg.
The 2011 edition of the film festival brings together a wide range of mountain escapades from all over the world. Cinematographers push the limits to present films showcasing breath-taking locations, amazing cultures, and daring athletes. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to support the ATC.
ATC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and management of Appalachian Trail (A.T.). Volunteers typically donate more than 200,000 hours a year on trail-related work. The A.T. is about 2,180 miles in length ranging from Maine to Georgia, making it the oldest, continuous marked footpath in the World.
Tickets are available for sale only at Blue Ridge Mountain Sports, located at the First and Main shopping plaza in Blacksburg.
