ORGANIZATIONAL MISSION:
The Appalachian Trail Conservancy’s mission is to preserve and manage the Appalachian Trail – ensuring that its vast natural beauty and priceless cultural heritage can be shared and enjoyed today, tomorrow, and for centuries to come.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision, the Marketing Assistant is responsible for assisting and implementing all marketing strategies by developing various elements essential for the growth of the organization. This individual works under the Marketing and Communications Director and carries out several tasks to facilitate campaigns for the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES QUALIFICATIONS
- Provide assistance in terms of logistics to community events
- Assist in writing and editing sales and marketing materials which include sale sheets, presentations, white papers, and collateral materials
- Maintain project tracking spread sheets and business line marketing calendars
- Prepare press releases and event announcements
- Update the ATC’s website using Content Management System
- Assist in the ATC’s online marketing campaigns such as PPC and SEO efforts
- Assist in promotional marketing campaign development
- Maintain the ATC’s social media accounts
- Measure, reports, and track responses on marketing campaigns such as events, press releases, social media, etc.
- Other duties assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or equivalent work experience in related field
- Knowledge of marketing principles
- Ability to evolve and stay current with new technologies and apply those new technologies to understood marketing principles
- Capable of writing reports, procedures and business correspondence
- Ability to work individually on self-driven projects
- Demonstrate ability to solve problems, analyze systems and data and suggest appropriate solutions as necessary
- Well built skills in organization, prioritization and time management
- Works well with multiple project deadlines, paying close attention to even the smallest of individual project details.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in performance
- Highly self-motivated individual
- Strong desire to learn and advance Marketing and Communications skill set and to contribute valuable content to Appalachian Trail Conservancies Marketing and Communications initiatives
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Working on the computer for prolonged periods
- Ability to communicate with individuals by phone, e-mail and in person
- Sitting for prolonged periods
- Extensive proofreading requires adequate vision and focus
- Travel may be required, up to 25%
- Shared/open office environment with modest noise level
