Volunteer Title: Administrative Assistant

Areas of Involvement: Works directly with the Executive Director and Finance and Administration to provide program and administrative related support as needed to facilitate the achievement of Appalachian Trail Conservancy’s mission.  Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for program communications (mailings, phones, computer).
  • Assists in scheduling and coordinating work calendars for Executive, Finance and regional offices.
  • Assist in organization wide daily schedule preparation
  • Assist in handling/transferring incoming phone calls from the main line
  • Assist in maintenance of departmental records
  • Performs general administrative tasks as requested by the Executive Director.
  • Works in conjunction with various ATC departmental managers
  • Assist Human Resources in employee file maintenance and filing
  • Assist Human Resources in system updates and mass changes in HR specific programs as they occur
  • Assist Finance and Administration in proper filing and records management

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office with strong word processing, database, and typing skills;
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Proven management and leadership skills, including the ability to initiate and follow through on ideas and projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with volunteers, donor/partners, and colleagues in many different environments with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Required to maintain strict confidentiality and professional/ethical standards.
  • Ability to work independently.
