Partner and Land Owner Resources

If you are one of our Partners and are working on a project relevant to the Appalachian Trail, ATC could assist you in the following ways:

  • Provide letters and other advocacy support
  • Provide GIS data and mapping support
  • Provide small grants to help support pre-acquisition work
  • Assist in coordinating projects and initiatives (visit our Regional Planning page for examples of community-based landscape conservation initiatives)
  • Joint fund-raising

Land Owner resources:

Land conservation is a complex business. There are many options available, and many regulations that affect the requirements and benefits of conservation projects, especially easements. These variables change from state to state, and sometimes from county to county. If you are a land owner and are interested in conserving your land, it's important that you seek local expertise in land use and easement law, as well as fiscal law if you intend to claim a tax benefit. Also visit our page on what you can do to learn more about options to protect your land.

Land Trust Alliance - The Land Trust Alliance is the umbrella organization for land trusts in the U.S. On their web site you will be able to find land trusts operating in your area, more information on conservation options for your land, and a Conservation Professionals Network through which you can find qualified attorneys, appraisers and other consultants.

Pennsylvania Land Trust Association – Find model easements for Pennsylvania, lists of land trusts functioning in the state, and other resources.

Your local Soil Conservation District – for brochures related to creating wildlife habitat and other stewardship topics.
