Walkin Jim Concert Series
The Appalachian Trail Conservancy is pleased to announce a school concert series this spring featuring nationally-acclaimed singer-songwriter-hiker Walkin’ Jim Stoltz. Through a generous grant from REI, this wonderful show is being offered absolutely free to 20 schools along the Appalachian Trail corridor, from Georgia to Maine. A goal of this concert series is to lead students and teachers to Web site resources including, Trail to Every Classroom curricula, ideas for hiking as a family, information about local hiking trails connecting to the A.T., volunteer opportunities for youth and families through the A.T. MEGA-Transect project, and blogs and videos where young people can share their Trail experiences. Stoltz’s multi-media shows for children are full of sing-a-longs, stories, and beautiful slides artistically blended from two projectors. The kid's concerts are geared mainly toward elementary age children and usually run from 45 to 50 minutes, including a question and answer time. Between the pictures, the songs, and his enthusiasm, the show can easily capture and hold the attention of a room full of kids. Stoltz will perform in the southern region of Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee between February 23 and March 5, and will be in Virginia March 9 through 19. His appearances for the Mid-Atlantic region, West Virginia through New York, are scheduled between March 23 and April 2. His performances from Connecticut to Maine will occur April 6 to 16.
