Notes
Before downloading, please note:
- To decompress the Zipped files, you will need a decompression program, such as WinZip or PKZip. These and other shareware programs are available from download sites such as CNET.com
For GIS data:
- These data (as well as most GIS programs and viewers) were developed on PC Windows-based machines and may not be usable on other platforms.
- To view these files, you will need a GIS program such as ArcView, ArcInfo, or MapInfo. If you don't have a GIS program, you may download ArcExplorer, ESRI's FREE GIS data viewer.
For GPS data:
- To use these data, you will need (1) a GPS unit that has upload/download capabilities, and (2) a PC-to-GPS interface data cable so that you may transfer the data. Please check your GPS manual to see if your unit is capable of uploading/downloading data and to make sure you have the proper equipment.
- To transfer these data to a GPS unit, you will also need a GPS mapping program such as National Geographic's TOPO! or MapTech's Terrain Navigator.
- If you do not have a GPS mapping program, you may download one of the following FREE programs that work with most Garmin, Magellan, and Lowrance/Eagle GPS units: GPS TrackMaker, EasyGPS, or G7ToWin.
