The Appalachian Trail Conservancy is headquartered in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia with regional, field offices in New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and North Carolina. In addition to full-time positions, we also hire highly qualified seasonal staff to support our ridgerunner/caretaker and crew programs. Full-time Positions ~ NEW POSTING ~

The ATC is happy to announce that it is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Graphic Designer to be located at our national headquarters in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Under general supervision, the Graphic Designer is responsible for the design and production of virtually all ATC publications and contributes similar creative services to the development of ATC web sites and other materials, such as trade show and community exhibits. The incumbent also designs and produces A.T. Journeys magazine on a bi-monthly schedule. 

Responsibilities also include photo research, illustration, implementing text corrections, advertisement design, and print coordination. The incumbent performs print and media buying tasks associated with the production and cost control of ATC publications and other printed material for the ATC. The incumbent is also responsible for the maintenance of copyright paperwork, files, and other editorial and production records of the publications program.

Seasonal Positions

Seasonal Boundary Maintenance Technician – Mid-Atlantic Region

We have made some minor changes to the Boundary Maintenance Technician position and wish to advise you.  The position will remain open for applications until June 18, 2010.  Interviews will be conducted beginning late June through early July, with an anticipated start date of August 2, 2010.  The position remains seasonal, terminating December 31, 2010 but the incumbent is immediately re-instated on January 1, 2011, meaning no break in service.  The 2011 position will run through December 31, 2011, making the job effectively 1 year and 5 months in duration.

The ATC is happy to announce that it is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Seasonal Boundary Technician to be located in our Mid-Atlantic Regional office. This position reports to the Land Protection Associate and focuses on permanent protection and stewardship of Appalachian Trail Lands (ATC fee lands and easements) and Appalachian National Scenic Trail (ANST) corridor lands (NPS fee lands and easements) and their associated resources through effective implementation of a cooperative management system involving ATC, Trail-maintaining clubs, and public-agency partners.

The Seasonal Boundary Technician monitors, maintains, and recovers exterior corridor boundaries of ANST lands acquired to protect the Appalachian Trail.  Field work is the priority function of this position. The Technician also works with the Trail Clubs to “preserve and strengthen the existing volunteer-centered system”.   The Technician will assist with training workshops, and assist Trail Clubs to monitor, manage, and recover selected boundaries. The Technician maintains work records, monitoring and management data, and field equipment. Field work may occur across the extent of the Appalachian Trail.
