Potomac River footbridge repair work
Harpers Ferry NHP has begun a project to replace the decking boards on the Goodloe E. Byron Memorial Walkway -- the A.T. route across the Potomac River. The walkway will be closed for no longer than one hour at a time as work proceeds, then a temporary walkway will be set up to allow pedestrians to cross the bridge before work resumes. This will permit the repair work to proceed with as minimal inconvenience as possible to A.T. hikers. Date: 10/21/2009
