2013 Video Contest

“I am the Appalachian Trail”

The Appalachian Trail (A.T.) is, in every way, the people’s Trail.  Created by a group of dreamers and doers and maintained by each new generation, every person who volunteers, supports, loves, and hikes the A.T. is a vital part of its history and success.  Without each of these individuals, the Trail would not exist.

That’s why the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) wants to know: How are you a part of the Appalachian Trail?

  • What makes you a part of the A.T. community?
  • Are you a day, weekend, section, or thru hiker?
  • Do you volunteer on the Trail?
  • Do you share your passion for the A.T. with friends and family?
  • Do you teach visitors and hikers about best Leave No Trace™ practices?
  • Do you lead nature walks?
  • Are you active in an Appalachian Trail Community™?
  • Do you create art (drawings, paintings, photographs, music, films, plays, books, etc.) based on the A.T.?

We will be accepting video shorts, no longer than 3 minutes, which answer the question: How are you a part of the Appalachian Trail?

We will award prizes for the top three videos.  The grand prize winner will have their video screened at our 2014 Membership Drive, receive an ATC ENO™ hammock, be featured in A.T. Journeys (The Official Magazine of the A.T.), and be highlighted on the ATC’s social media pages (Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, and Google+).

To submit your video, visit our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/ATHike) and locate the tab marked “Video Contest”. You’ll find it just under our cover photo near “Photos” and “Events.”

Videos will be accepted from Monday, July 8, 2013 through Sunday, September 15, 2013. Voting will take place from Monday, September 16, 2013 to Friday, November 8, 2013. Winners will be announced on Monday, November 11, 2013.
