Appalachian Trail Conservancy Hosts 10th Annual Holiday Open House

Harpers Ferry, WV (November 21, 2012) – The Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) will host its 10th Annual Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 9:00a.m. – 5:00p.m. at the ATC Visitor Center located at 799 Washington Street in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. The event will feature a book signing of Brian King’s most recent work title The Appalachian Trail: Celebrating America’s Hiking Trail.

Free coffee, cider, and homemade cookies will be available. All event participants will also have a chance to winner aENO hammock. The winner will be selected at 5:00p.m., but contestants do not need to be present to accept the prize.

Brian King, publisher for the ATC, will hold a book signing for his most recent work titled The Appalachian Trail: Celebrating America’s Hiking Trail from 10:00a.m. – 12:00p.m. and from 1:00p.m. – 3:00p.m. Written in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the completion of the Appalachian Trail (A.T.) and named as one of the top ten travel titles this fall by Publishers Weekly, this official ATC publication, with a foreword by Bill Bryson, documents the history, beauty and significance of America’s most iconic hiking trail. Books will be available for purchase.

“The Appalachian Trail Conservancy is excited to host our 10th Annual Holiday Open House,” said Laurie Potteiger, information services manager of the ATC. "Not only does this event offer a chance to meet Brian King, one of the foremost experts on Appalachian Trail history, it is also a great way to mingle with other A.T. enthusiasts, shop for the holidays, and see all that Harpers Ferry has to offer."

This gathering will be a great opportunity to do some holiday shopping for the Trail enthusiast among your friends and family. It also coincides with Old Tyme Christmas in Lower Town, Harpers Ferry.

    WOW!!! You guys are crusin' right along. Wondering if the nasty itsecns (mosquitoes, black flies) have begun to make their presence known. I heard they are attracted to sweat so there's no doubt you will encounter them. It looks like 8 states are behind you only 6 left!!!
