There aren’t many toilets that flush on the Appalachian Trail, but there are plenty of outhouses! With so many visitors to the Trail each year, those outhouses fill up regularly.
Join the Berkshire Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) from 9 a.m to 4 p.m on Saturday, May 5 as they dig a new hole to put the Sherman Brook Privy over.
Meet where the A.T crosses Mass Ave. in North Adams, Massachusetts around the corner from Becks Printing. All tools and training will be provided. Wear sturdy boots, long pants and work gloves, or latex gloves and eye protection. Also, bring your own lunch, personal snacks and water.
