A.T. volunteers must complete a two-day certification course to operate a crosscut saw on federal land. Certification is good for three years, as long as the sawyer has appropriate first aid training as well.
This course is offered by the USFS - Glenwood Pedlar Ranger District and will be based at the Admin Office at Sherando Lake. The course is from 8 am - 5 pm each day for sawyers being certified for the first time, or wishing to be certified at a higher level.
Sawyers wishing to re-certify at the same level as their previous certification can do so in one day, 8 am-5 pm March 24.
